Welcome

The Shakers believed that work was an act of worship. Building a radically egalitarian society which was governed equally by women and men, the Shakers welcomed the disenfranchised, raised and educated orphans, created large scale successful businesses, and readily shared their resources with those in need.

At shakermuseum.us, you can view the most comprehensive collection of Shaker artifacts in the world.

This Community Woodwork Exhibition is the result of the call to create a piece of woodwork which expresses how the Shakers' example inspired each woodworker.

Shaker Museum is deeply grateful for the thoughtful work and diligent craftsmanship of the participants, and for the inspirational and educational contributions of Brian Persico and John and Wonhee Arndt.
